R.I.P Tommy Page

"Musik untuk didengar bukan untuk dilihat" kata Tommy Page yang saya kutip di Album Kawanku no 3 th 1992. Tommy, lahir di Glen Ridge, 24 Mei 1970. Sejak kecil punya bakat dan minat di dunia musik. Tapi oleh ayahnya, Tom baru boleh bermusik setelah menamatkan bangku kuliahnya.

Sebelum Shoulder to Cry On terkenal, Tomm beken dengan kelompok vokal NKOTB. Bagi Tomm, sebuah lagu membutuhkan kesiapan tersendiri untuk menghayatinya. Tomm juga ingin mengingatkan lewat lagu-lagunya bahwa kita semua memiliki sesuatu yang sama. Hal yang barangkali perlu kita ingat bahwa sikap postitif dalam mengarungi kehidupan. Ohya ketika Tomm mulai terkenal, nama-nama seperti Madona,  Paula Abdul, Milli Vanili dll sedang mengangkasa dan dituntut aksi panggung yang memukai membuat Madona dll melakukan lypsych, tapi tidak dengan Tomm. Tomm ingin selalu jujur dan menghindari Lipsing

Ada yang unik dari Tomm. Setelah menciptakan lagu, sebelum lagu itu diserahkan ke produser, Tomm memperdengarkan lagunya tersebut diperdengarkan kepada Michele, sahabatnya ketika SMA. Michele pula yang sering menebak Tomm, lagumu bakal meledak atau gagal ngehits. Menurut Tomm, sembilan dari 10 tebakan Michele tentang lagu Tomm yang di dengar Michele dari radio bagal hit atau gagal selalu tepat

Tomm, sempat beberapakali konser di Indonesia menjumpai penggemar fanatiknya. Kemarin tgl 3 Maret 2017 di lini masa mendadak heboh dengan kepergian Tommy Page. Selamat Jalan Tommy Page, Shoulder to Cry On, From The Hearth akan kami kenang.
